ROLL DOWN, JUSTICE! Our theme for Lent. The picture above is the waterfall we began on the first Sunday of Lent, and will be adding to each Sunday, symbolic of letting God’s justice flow down and out to all who are hungry, hurting, and in need of healing, shelter, love, and acceptance. JOIN US to hear these powerful messages and to be part of our growing church and our growing commitment to those on the margins.

February 19th and February 26th: Preparing for Lent
As Lent approaches and begins on Ash Wednesday, March 1st, we often wonder we should enter the story of Lent in our 21st Century mindsets.
The “vocabulary” of Lent sometimes causes us to struggle. We come with our traditional and individual impressions about words like “sin,” “repentance,” “salvation” and “redemption.” Each are words often used in Lent and especially on Ash Wednesday. What do they really mean? Do they mean what we think they mean? How do we re-think and reflect on their original intent in the scriptures, and what they mean for us today.
Join us on February 19th for “Oh, Those Religious Words, Part 1” and on February 26th for “Oh, Those Religious Words, Part 2.”
What DO they have to do with our lives and our walk of faith now? We will try to answer those questions as we prepare for Lent.
Our Lenten Journey begins March 1st on Ash Wednesday with a 7:00 PM Service
Why did Lent begin? It isn’t scriptural, so why do we do it? This year we begin with our traditional imposition of the ashes, but why?
Lenten worship series for 2017: “Roll Down Justice”
The prophet Amos, in Chapter 5, verse 24 said, “But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.”
Taking those words as foundational to many of the teachings of Christ and to our Lenten journey, we enter Lent with fresh worship ideas and themes to prod our own thinking and spiritual grounding. More info to come, soon!
By the way . . . what does Lent have to do with water? Everything!
